HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police on Tuesday arrested a bar host and his girlfriend for the alleged assault of a female customer over an unpaid bill of 750,000 yen, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 1).

Early on February 27, Takashi Horiuchi, 23, and Mayu Murakami, 20, allegedly forced the woman, 31, into a vehicle in Kobe’s Hyogo Ward and confined her for two hours, during which time she was repeatedly beaten in the face. The woman received minor injuries in the attack.

Horiuchi admits to forcing the woman into the car and striking her. Murakami admits forcing to ride in the car but denies committing assault, according to the Kobe Shimbun (Mar. 1).

According to police, Horiuchi is employed at a club in Tokushima City. In November of last year, the victim visited the club five or six times. Two months later, the victim attended a birthday party for Horiuchi and ran up charges totaling 1.8 million yen but only paid 1.05 million yen.

“Since I couldn’t reach her by phone, I went to see her about the unpaid money,” Horiuchi is quoted.
