CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police on Monday arrested a 76-year-old man for killing his neighbor following a dispute over drainage in Tateyama City, reports TBS News (Nov. 9).

On November 6 at around 3:00 p.m., Toru Ueki allegedly kicked Yukio Ishiwatari, 73, in the face and knocked him over before he fell into a lake in the Oto area.

Ueki, who has been charged with murder, admits to the allegations. “After we fought over a drainage matter and other issues, I was determined to kill him,” the suspect is quoted by police.

On Sunday afternoon, a male relative of Ueki alerted the Tateyama Police Station about the crime. Officers arriving at the scene found the body of Ishiwatari lying face-up in the lake at a depth of approximately 30 centimeters, according to the Yomiuri Shimbun (Nov. 9).

In April, Ueki consulted with police about trouble he had been having with Ishiwatari.
