Chiba cops: Man gases 2 daughters to death

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectual Police have arrested a a 46-year-old male office worker for killing his two daughters with poisonous gas in their residence in Sodegaura City, reports Nippon News Network (Dec. 17).

At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Nobuya Amaha is alleged to have burned charcoal briquettes inside a bathroom of the residence, located in the Noda area, to kill Sunae, 23, and 22-year-old Nanami through carbon monoxide poisoning.

Amaha then sent an email message to a relative. “Thank you for everything but we cannot continue any longer,” the email read.

The relative contacted police. Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Kisarazu Police Station found the daughters collapsed in the bathroom. They were later confirmed dead at a hospital. Amaha was present when police arrived.

Amaha, who has been charged with murder, admits to the allegations. “My wife died in May after suffering from an illness, and all of us looked to the future with pessimism,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Police suspect that Amaha had also intended to kill himself.
