EHIME (TR) – Ehime Prefectural Police have arrested seven men, including the operators of two sex shops, for illegally providing rooms for commercial sex in Matsuyama City, reports EBC News (Sep. 9).
The crackdown targeted a soapland bathhouse and a “health club” operating in the city’s Dogo-Takomachi entertainment district.
On September 9, officers arrested a 68-year-old shop operator residing in the Minamidoimachi area. According to police, the suspect is accused of providing private rooms at his soapland where five female employees engaged in sexual intercourse with five male customers between July 26 of last year and June 3.
Police have withheld whether the 68-year-old has admitted to charges of violating the Anti-Prostitution Law.
In a separate incident on September 8, police caught a 48-year-old health club operator and five male employees in the act. The suspects allegedly provided private rooms for two female employees to have sex with two male paying customers on the day of their arrest.
All six men apprehended in the health club raid have admitted to the allegations.
Authorities stated that the arrests are part of an intensified, ongoing crackdown aimed at “purifying” the city’s red-light and entertainment districts.
