TOKYO (TR) – Popular adult video actress Yua Fukuda revealed on Friday that she was detained, interrogated and deported from New Zealand after immigration officials refused to believe she was in the country for a vacation.
Taking to her secondary X account, the actress detailed a harrowing ordeal at the border, revealing she was treated like a criminal upon arrival.
“I was put in a holding cell in New Zealand. Upon entry, I was interrogated for over six hours, subjected to a drug test and ultimately denied entry,” Fukuda wrote. “About 10 police officers showed up, confiscated my belongings and put me in a dirty solitary cell. Now I am being forcibly deported back to Japan.”
According to Fukuda, she had booked her hotel, return flight, and a tour bus but deliberately left her itinerary open because she wanted to relax and enjoy nature without a strict schedule. However, border officials rejected her story, telling her, “This cannot be recognized as tourism.”
The incident highlights a growing issue for young Japanese women traveling alone, who are increasingly facing strict scrutiny and entry denials at foreign borders due to a surge in dekasegi — women traveling overseas to engage in sex work.
Fukuda directed her anger squarely at this trend.
“I really hope everyone going overseas for sex work gets arrested,” she wrote bitterly. “I just wanted to enjoy a relaxing solo trip overseas as a woman, but now I have to throw that dream away.”
The actress lamented that the deportation will permanently stain her travel record, likely subjecting her to severe immigration checks in other countries and crushing her dream of traveling the world monthly during her early twenties.
Despite the humiliating experience, Fukuda attempted to put a positive spin on the ordeal after arriving back in Japan. Posting a photo of the night sky, she reasoned that New Zealand’s strict borders are exactly why its public safety is maintained.
“The last moon I saw was beautiful, and I waved goodbye to the police with a smile! They were kind,” she wrote, thanking her fans for their support.
Fukuda made her adult video debut last year under the promotional catchphrase “National Treasure-level Beautiful Girl.” Affectionately known as “Yuachi,” she is a regular fixture at the top of major adult site rankings and boasts a massive fanbase across Asia.
