SHIGA (TR) – Shiga Prefectural Police launched an investigation after a man in his 70s was found collapsed and bleeding in an apartment in Otsu City later died.
Meanwhile, a woman believed to be his wife was discovered collapsed with injuries in the same building, reports Mainichi Broadcasting System (Feb. 25).
Just before noon on February 25, the manager of the apartment building, located in the Ojigaoka area, called police to report that the woman was collapsed and was bleeding in an elevator hall.
Emergency personnel arriving at the scene found the woman, aged in her 70s, lying face down with injuries to her head in the elevator. Upon being transported to a hospital, she was conscious, police said.
Police later found the man lying face-down and bleeding in a unit of the building. He was confirmed dead at the scene. The unit was locked when police arrived.
The man and woman are believed to be a married couple. Police are rushing to confirm their identities while also investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
The incident occurred very close to JR Otsukyo Station.
