OSAKA (TR) – A teenage boy died after allegedly breaking into an Osaka City apartment and slashing a mother and her two daughters late on Saturday, police said, reports TV Asahi (July 20).
At around 10:45 p.m., police received a desperate emergency call from a 41-year-old female resident of an apartment complex in Konohana Ward. “A man came in and slashed us one after another with something like a box cutter,” the woman reported.
According to investigators, the intruder slashed the woman and her two teenage daughters across their faces and other areas. All three victims sustained varying degrees of serious and minor injuries.
The suspected assailant, identified only as a teenage boy, was later found collapsed on the premises of the apartment complex. He was rushed to a hospital but was subsequently pronounced dead.
Police believe the deceased teen was an acquaintance of the woman’s 16-year-old eldest son. Investigators revealed that shortly before the home invasion, the eldest son had also been injured in an incident inside the building.
Osaka police are continuing to investigate the sequence of events and plan to treat the case as attempted murder, with the suspect being deceased.
