MIYAGI (TR) – Authorities have arrested a 15-year-old junior high school student in Sendai City on suspicion of possessing marijuana, reports Fuji News Network (July 28).
The third-year student was taken into custody after investigators from the Tohoku Health and Welfare Bureau’s Narcotics Control Department discovered the illicit drugs at his residence on July 15.
During the search, authorities seized approximately 1.263 grams of dried marijuana. Paraphernalia used for smoking the drug in cigarette form, including rolling papers and filters, were also confiscated from the home.
The boy has since been referred to prosecutors.
The Narcotics Control Department has declined to reveal whether the teen has admitted to the allegations, stating that doing so could hinder their ongoing probe. Investigators are currently working to determine the route through which the junior high schooler acquired the drugs.
