GUNMA (TR) – Gunma Prefectural Police have renewed their appeal for public assistance in capturing a former truck driver on the run for over two decades in connection with the brutal 1998 murder of a family of three, reports TBS News (Nov. 1).
According to police, 57-year-old Hiroshi Kogure remains on a nationwide wanted list on suspicion of murder. On January 14, 1998, a married couple and the husband’s mother were found slain inside their home in the former town of Gunma (now part of Takasaki City). Kogure fled the scene and has evaded capture ever since.
On Tuesday, investigators took to JR Takasaki Station to hand out pocket tissue packs bearing Kogure’s mugshot and details of the case to commuters, urging anyone with information to come forward.

“If anything catches your attention, please do not hesitate to contact the police,” said Hiroshi Kosuge, head of the Gunma Prefectural Police’s Criminal Investigation Department.
Authorities have printed roughly 23,000 updated wanted posters featuring Kogure’s likeness, which will be distributed to public facilities and transit hubs across the country as the manhunt continues.
