Saitama construction worker suspected of breaking into Chiba post offices

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 37-year-old man who is suspected of breaking into two post offices in Mobara City last year, reports NHK (Feb. 19).

The suspect is Tomoya Nagamura, a construction worker from Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture.

According to police, he is suspected of theft and trespassing for breaking into the Ninomiya Hongo Post Office last February and stealing approximately 11 million yen in cash.

Police have not revealed whether the suspect admits to the charges, citing such information as being a hindrance to their investigation.

The post office’s security camera captured three men taking the cash and getting into a car to escape.

About an hour and a half prior to this incident, multiple people broke into the Honno Minamiyoshida Post Office in the same city and stole approximately 9 million yen in cash.

Police are investigating this incident as well, believing Nagamura was involved. Police are also seeking the whereabouts of his accomplices.
