Man flees illicit photo accusation by leaping from platform at Shinjuku Station

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have apprehended a man who fled an accusation of taking illicit films by leaping from a platform at a railway station in Shinjuku Ward on Tuesday, reports the Nippon News Network (Oct. 9).

At around 9:50 a.m., a woman, 29, riding inside a Saikyo Line carriage observed the man training the lens of a smartphone, which he had concealed, on her buttocks. “You’re filming, aren’t you?” the woman said.

Upon the train’s arrival at JR Shinjuku Station, he fled the scene by leaping onto the railway below the platform.

About 30 minutes later, police apprehended a man meeting the description provided by the woman near the station. During questioning, he admitted to taking tosatsu, or voyeur, footage.

According to East Japan Railway, the incident caused lines to be delayed for 14 minutes.
