Man arrested after leaving corpse of second man at Funabashi clinic

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly leaving the corpse of a second man at a clinic in Funabashi City last month, reports NHK (Sep. 5).

At around 12:50 a.m. on August 27, Kaiyu Akutsu, of no known occupation, allegedly left the body of he body of Misaki Miura, 21, at the Nighttime and Holiday Emergency Clinic.

Police did not reveal whether Akutsu admits to the allegations, citing concerns over the status of the ongoing investigation.

According to police, Akutsu arrived at the clinic by car with Miura inside the vehicle. A clinic staff member then called police. “A man who came by car brought an injured person, but he is not breathing.”

While the staff member returned to the clinic to call other staff, Akutsu removed the body of Miura from the car, placed it on the ground, and drove away.

Miura had wounds all over his body, including to his head. The cause of death is believed to have been a subdural hematoma.

Akutsu surfaced as a person of interest in the case after an examination of security camera footage. On September 4, he was found in Tokyo and arrested.

Police are continuing the investigation on suspicion of murder.
