Female student at Fukuyama high school stabs three classmates

HIROSHIMA (TR) – Hiroshima Prefectural Police on Wednesday arrested a 17-year-old female student for allegedly stabbing three other students with a knife at a correspondence high school in Fukuyama City.

Interviews with investigators have revealed that the female student is believed to have suddenly stabbed the three students from behind, reports NHK (May 22).

At around 10:15 a.m., the suspect used the knife to stab the three female students in the shoulders and back in a classroom at the city’s correspondence high school Ozora High School.

None of the three students suffered injuries that are considered life-threatening.

The incident took place between classes. There were about 20 students in the classroom. Based on accounts from witnesses, the female student is believed to have suddenly stabbed the three students from behind as they were sitting in their chairs.

A high school staff member who heard the commotion took the knife away from the female student.

When questioned by police, she admitted to allegations of attempted murder. “I stabbed them because I wanted to kill them,” she said, according to police.

The circumstances that led to the incident are under investigation.
