TOKYO (TR) – The body of an elderly man suspected in the ax attack of his two sisters was found by a river in Tachikawa City last week, police have revealed, reports Nippon News Network (April 22).
At around 9:05 a.m. on April 22, investigators found the body of the man, aged in his 70s, on a bank of the Tama River.
According to police, the wet body showed no signs of external wounds.
At around 7:50 p.m. the day before, the man allegedly wielded the ax in attacking his sisters, also aged in their 70s, at the residence they shared in nearby Hino City.
The women were transported to a hospital with injuries to the neck and back. Their condition was not considered life-threatening.
Afterward, the man dropped the ax and fled the scene. While treating the case as attempted murder, police then commenced a search in the area where he was last seen headed.
The cause of death of the man is under investigation, police said.
