HIROSHIMA (TR) – Police in Hiroshima City have arrested a 50-year-old bar owner following the discovery of a man’s battered corpse inside his establishment, reports Nippon News Network (July 25).
Hiromasa Murakami, who operates an eatery and bar in the city’s central Naka Ward, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault. According to police, Murakami allegedly punched a 49-year-old man in the face and stomach multiple times just after 6:00 a.m. on July 24.
The grim discovery was made later that night. At around 8:00 p.m., authorities received an emergency call reporting that an “employee had collapsed inside the store.” Police officers rushed to the scene and found the victim, who was pronounced dead on the spot.
During police questioning, Murakami admitted to the allegations, reportedly telling investigators, “I don’t remember, but it wouldn’t be strange if I had used violence.”
Police are currently investigating the direct causal link between the severe beating and the victim’s death. Authorities plan to upgrade the charges against the suspect to bodily injury resulting in death or murder as the investigation unfolds.
