CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Hiroshima Prefecture for breaking into an unoccupied home in Nagareyama City last year and stealing a safe, reports TBS News (Feb. 27).
Last October, Genki Hirota, a bartender, allegedly worked with others to break into the home and steal the safe containing approximately 4.7 million yen in cash and other items.
The Kashiwa Police Station has not disclosed whether Hirota, who lives in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, admits to the crimes.

According to police, Hirota is believed to have applied for an illegal part-time job on social media. He then received instructions via the confidential communication app Signal before carrying out the crime.
Last month, a 20-year-old office worker from Gifu Prefecture was also arrested in connection with the crime. Police are continuing the investigation under the suspicion there may be other accomplices.
