Kagawa cop accused of planting spy cam in women’s restroom at city hall

KAGAWA (TR) – Kagawa Prefectural Police last week arrested a 45-year-old staff member for allegedly installing a hidden camera in a women’s restroom at the city hall for Takamatsu City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 12).

At around 6:30 p.m. on December 8, Kenji Tanigashi, 45, allegedly installed a small camera set to record tosatsu (voyeur) video footage in the women’s staff restroom at the city hall.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of violating the Kagawa Prefecture Nuisance Prevention Ordinance on December 12, Tanigashi admitted to the allegations.

Tanigashi is a section chief in the Citizen Affairs Division of Takamatsu City at the Takamatsu-Kita Police Station.

According to police, a city hall employee called police on December 8 to report, “A small camera has been installed behind the toilet in the women’s restroom.”

Tanigashi turned himself in on December 11.

Hideto Onishi, the mayor of Takamatsu City, issued a statement. He said, “This has damaged the trust of our citizens, and we take this very seriously and offer our sincere apologies. We will take strict action once we have determined the facts.”
