Nagoya man traveled to Chiba to break into school ‘to smell shoes’

CHIBA (TR) – It’s gotta be the shoes.

Chiba Prefectural Police on Saturday arrested a 37-year-old man from Nagoya City with an admitted footwear fetish for breaking into a prefectural high school in Yachiyo City, reports TV Asahi (Dec. 6).

At around noon, Ryotaro Adachi, a company executive, is suspected of breaking into the prefectural high school.

According to police, a teacher who was on campus at the time became suspicious when he noticed a door to a boys’ restroom stall was closed. Upon checking, they found Adachi inside.

Adachi had brought five pairs of indoor shoes believed to belong to female students into the stall.

During questioning on suspicion of trespassing, Adachi admitted to the charges. “I have a fetish for women’s scents, and I wanted to smell the indoor shoes,” he said.

A Shinkansen ticket from Nagoya to Tokyo that was dated for Saturday was found among his belongings. Adachi said, “Schools in Aichi Prefecture use slippers, so I came to a school in the Kanto region where they use shoe-shaped indoor shoes.”
