KAGAWA (TR) – Kagawa Prefectural Police this week arrested a man claiming to be British and a male Japanese national for allegedly trespassing on the grounds of an abandoned hospital in Takamatsu City, reports RSK Sanyo (July 9).
At around 5:47 p.m. on Tuesday, a neighbor to the hospital alerted police. “A foreigner is climbing over the fence and trespassing,” the caller said.
Officers who rushed to the scene found the foreign man on the hospital grounds and accompanied him to the Takamatsu-Minami Police Station. The following day, police arrested the suspect, who claims to be 37-year-old English teacher, on suspicion of trespassing.
During police questioning, the foreign man answered all the questions in English in denying the charges. “I don’t want to say anything,” he told police.
The man did not have any identification in his possession. He told police, “I am a British national and an English teacher living in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture.”
After further investigation, police arrested a 29-year-old Japanese man, who claims to be a delivery man, on the same charge.
Police are currently working to confirm the foreign man’s identity and the motive for the crime.
