OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have busted a specialty hostess club on licensing violations after customers complained about being overcharged, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 1).

According to the Sonezaki Police Station, personnel at Bar Precious, located in Kita Ward, lured customers into the establishment in the middle of October by claiming to offer 70 minutes of service for 2,500 yen. However, the customers were later charged 200,000 yen for two hours.

On Wednesday at around 10:30 p.m., officers raided the bar and arrested manager Takahiko Sugibayashi, 29, and another 34-year-old member of management for proving entertainment to customers without authorization under the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.

Bar Precious, which opened in September, is a so-called “girl’s bar,” which is an establishment licensed for drinking but offers services nearly equivalent to that of an adult-entertainment club.

Police also arrested two hostesses on the same charges.
