TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating what is believed to have been a suicide after a man plunged to his death at a popular shopping mall in Shibuya Ward on Saturday, reports Nippon News Network (Aug. 27).
At around noon, police received an emergency call about “a man who jumped from the second floor” at the Omotesando Hills mall. Police and firefighters arriving at the scene found the man, aged in his 50s, collapsed on a set of stairs. He was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.
The mall was crowded with shoppers at the time of the incident. An examination of security camera footage showed the man climbing a glass wall at the edge of an atrium just before he jumped.
