KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police have concluded that a 23-year-old stylist at a beauty salong whose body was found in her home in Sagamihara City on Thursday died due to strangulation, reports the Sankei Shimbun (June 11).
At approximately 6:00 p.m., two male co-workers of Kana Ofuji found her lying face-up on a sofa in her second-floor residence, located in the Higashirinkan area of Minami Ward. A blanket was covering the lower-half of her body.
Police arriving at the scene confirmed her dead. Her neck had marks consistent with strangulation.
The results of an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be asphyxiation due to strangulation.
The co-workers of Ofuji, including her 32-year-old boss, visited the residence after she failed to appear for work on two consecutive days. The door to the residence, where she lives alone, was unlocked.
According to police, Ofuji left her salon at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police are treating the case as murder.
