TOKYO (TR) – Earlier this week, the office of popular voice actress Emi Nitta denied a report claiming that she starred in an adult video (AV) production. But with that video in question set for re-release later this month fans will be left to make their own assessment.

On April 5, agency S, which represents the 30-year-old released a statement contradicting an article in weekly tabloid Shukan Asahi Geino (April 14), which says the voice actress starred in an amateur AV production released in 2008.

“Emi Nitta has confirmed that the person referred to in the article is not her,” the statement read. “An investigation into the matter is now ongoing, but we have concluded that Emi Nitta is not in the person in question.

Released by label Prestige, the adult video production in question is titled “Shiroto Zukan File-07.” The video features a number ofamateur actresses, one of whom, the article says, is Nitta.

Tabloids, such as Nikkan Gendai (April 7), have noted that the voice and facial features of the actress in the DVD, including a mole on the chin, are similar to those of Nitta.

According to Amazon.co.jp, the video will be re-released on April 20. For those interested in a sneak peek, the magazine has reprinted screen grabs from the disc that provide clear (and fully nude) images of the actress.

In 2010, Nitta debuted as a voice actress. She is known for her role as Honoka in the exceedingly popular “Love Live!” animation series, in which a group of girls start the idol group μ’s (Muse) to attract new students and prevent their school from closing down. Nitta appeared in a production of “Love Live!” that was staged at Tokyo Dome last week.

Nitta also has a singing career that includes four CD singles. Last October, she released her debut solo album “EMUSIC.”

Last year, she appeared on public broadcaster NHK’s special “Kohaku Uta Gassen” program on New Year’s Eve.

In light of the claims made in the Asagei article, agency S is considering legal action. “We are now consulting with a lawyer regarding this matter,” the statement said.
