EHIME (TR) – In an investigation into a woman accused of dumping the body of a newborn, Ehime Prefectural Police on Monday announced the discovery of four more bodies of infants inside her residence, reports Yomiuri Television (July 20).

Emi Wakabayashi, 34, is alleged to have concealed the four corpses inside a storage room of her home in Yawatahama City.

Wakabayashi, who has been charged with abandonment of corpses, has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “From around 2006, I have been giving birth and dumping the corpses of the babies,” the suspect is quoted by police.

On July 14, police initially arrested Wakabayashi for the abandonment of another infant inside a closet of the same home on around July 3. A subsequent investigation conducted by police lead to the discovery of the additional bodies.

Wakabayashi lives in the residence with her father, younger brother and eldest son. The suspect is believed to have been the mother of all of the infants.

Police are now seeking to apply murder charges to Wakabayashi.
