TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Friday arrested a former director of an electronics sales company for allegedly embezzling more than 100 million yen in funds, reports Nippon News Network (June 27).

On five occasions between January and March of 2008, Takeshi Imamura, the 54-year-old former representative director at Alpha Merit, is alleged to have transferred a total of three million yen of corporate money into his personal account.

“I used the money on hostess clubs and to support my girlfriend,” the suspect is quoted by police in admitting to the allegations.

Imamura, who is accused of embezzling a total of 120 million yen, began at the company in 2003 as the head of the accounting division.

According to the Sankei Shimbun (June 27), the matter came to the attention of officials at Alpha Merit in May of last year. Imamura was dismissed that same month. The company then contacted police in February of this year.
