TOKYO (TR) – A drunk man was hit and killed by a Tokyu train after he tripped at a railroad crossing and could not get back up, Tokyo Metropolitan Police said on Sunday.

Security camera footage showed an intoxicated Masayuki Ouchi, 69, tripping at a railroad crossing and falling over at around 1 a.m. in Shinagawa Ward, remaining on the tracks for at least a minute until a Tokyu Ikegami Line train approached, TV Asahi reports (October 16).

The conductor of the train said they “spotted someone on their side about 100 meters ahead, but it was too late.”
