Vancouver cops release image of man last seen with missing Japanese woman

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the man

Security camera footage released by Vancouver police on Tuesday shows a white male who was last seen with a Japanese woman who has been missing since September 7 (TV Asahi)

VANCOUVER, CANADA (TR) – Police released security camera footage of a white male last seen with a Japanese woman the day she went missing here on September 8, the Sankei Shimbun reported on Wednesday (September 28).

Natsumi Kogawa, a 30-year-old Aomori Prefecture native, was studying in Vancouver since May and was to meet a friend on September 8 when she never showed and has remained missing.

Camera footage taken at around 1:30 p.m. on September 8, just before Kogawa went missing, shows her talking to the man in his 30s who is wearing a black jacket, jeans and a baseball cap.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are asking the public to come forward with any information about the man by calling 604-294-7922.

A Facebook page set up to assist with the search is also seeking information from the public.

Kogawa is 4 feet 11 inches tall with long hair and brown eyes. She is said to be an experienced traveler and might be wearing a backpack.
