TOCHIGI (TR) – Tochigi Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of a woman at a dam in Nikko City, reports TV Asahi (July 1).
At 9:30 a.m. on Friday, an inspector at the Kawaji Dam discovered a woman’s body at the base of its spillway, which flows into the Tone River.
The body, measuring about 150 centimeters in height, was clothed in a gray parka, blue jeans, and low-cut shoes with straps. The estimated age of the woman is unknown.
Officers from the Imaichi Police Station are treating the case as the result of an accident or foul play.
Due to drought conditions, the water level at the Kawaji Dam is being carefully monitored. Earlier this month, the outflow of the dam into the Tone River was restricted by 10 percent.
