OKINAWA (TR) – Okinawa Prefectural Police said on Friday that a male U.S. civilian employee at Kadena Air Base has admitted to the rape and killing of a 20-year-old woman from Uruma City whose body was found on Thursday, reports the Asahi Shimbun (April 21).

Kenneth Shinzato, 32, told police that he sexually assaulted Rina Shimabukuro before stabbing and strangling her to death.

Police sources told the paper that Shinzato said he “raped her,” “clubbed her with a stick and carried her inside [my] car” and “stabbed her with a knife.”

Police found the body of Shimabukuro, who had been reported missing since last month, in a grove of trees in the village of Onna on Thursday after the suspect provided the location.

Police subsequently arrested Shinzato, a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps who lives in the town of Yonabaru, on charges of abandoning a corpse.

In admitting to the allegations, Shinzato said he put Shimabukuro’s body inside a suitcase and transported her to the grove of trees. He then took her body out of the suitcase in dumping her. Police suspect that he prepared the suitcase in advance.

On the evening of April 28, Shimabukuro informed her boyfriend by phone that she was headed out for a walk. When she failed to return, he reported her missing with police the following day.

During the investigation, police learned that Shimabukuro’s smartphone stopped transmitting data between one and three kilometers from her residence. After an examination of security camera footage in the area, a vehicle within the U.S. armed forces and driven by Shinzato came under scrutiny.

On Thursday, police revealed that a DNA analysis of material taken from the vehicle matched with that of Shimabukuro.

Shinzato is married with three children. Shinzato uses the family name of his wife. His family name is Gadson.

  1. RIP Sweet young lady. She did not deserve this in any way. This ni**er needs to be executed. No woman should suffer death from an foreigner in her own country. This poor thing, I cannot imagine the horror and fear she felt.

WHITE AMERICA is sorry for your loss Japan, the loss of a beautiful, innocent woman who was just starting her life. Bless her family to help them through this difficult time.

  2. This guy also holds Japanese resident card… Therefore he should not be considered SOFA. He should be punished like every other Japanese citizen that commits a similar crime. He’s an awful man and deserves to die in Jail. Execution is too kind. I pray for her family :(.
But Ms. Schroeder by using the N word you show ignorance. Black, white or whatever color did make him kill her. He killed her because he’s a horrible person and these type people are all over the world… Not only Okinawa!!! And not only American… Japanese commit crimes just like any other nationality.

  3. No need for nasty racist comments Tanja. If he had been white would have made any difference? A murderer is a murderer regardless his race or color. His place is in jail. Period.

  4. As long as Barry is in the white house then Kenny will be safe just like Hillary… are we getting the pix yet?

  5. Tanja…you do know most white Marines attacked women in Japan, why don’t you also apologize for your invasion in Okinawa. Side note this guy who did this should be executed.

  6. Raffaella and Tanja, I agree with Tanja. Black people have a bad rep NOT because of the color of their skin but ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BAD ACTIONS MOST BLACK PEOPLE DO! Instead of going to school and getting an education, they talk like 2 year olds, openly insult everyone they can and think that grabbing what they want through force and violence is their right to do. There are very few black people who achieved a lot–, no, not Obama or Ali (more violence being taught to young kids) but yes, Ben Carson (he is a medical doctor!) and others like him. Why don’t these young black people follow his example? They cannot say they do not have money to go to school as there are gillions of scholarships if they have the good grades!

  7. Most black people? Seriously?? I’ll keep you in my prayers.

I hope that her family can find peace. I hope he gets justice. This should never have happened.
