Saga man in affair killed girlfriend, son more than 10 years ago

Kazuhiko Yoshidomi

FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police on Friday arrested a 47-year-old man for killing his girlfriend, with whom he was engaged in an extra-marital affair, more than a decade ago in Kurume City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Jan. 23).

Sometime between October of 2004 and the following April, Kazuhiko Yoshidomi is alleged to have stabbed Katsumi Shiga to death inside her apartment.

On January 19, prefectural police questioned Yoshidomi about the whereabouts of Shiga, who is believed to be either 28 or 29 years old. The suspect said that he killed her and also their son, Kazuto.

“I stabbed her with a kitchen knife,” the suspect is quoted by police in admitting to the charges. He added that he buried their bodies near his residence in Imari City, Saga Prefecture.

The following day, police found two corpses at the indicated location. The results of a DNA analysis confirmed one of them to be that of Shiga, whose body was found wrapped in a plastic sheet. The other corpse was inside a bag. A knife was also found nearby.

In September of 2012, a child counseling center consulted with police regarding the whereabouts of Kazuto. A missing persons report was filed on the boy in June of 2014.

In November of 2014, police questioned Yoshidomi about the case but he denied knowledge of Shiga’s whereabouts, telling investigators that they broke up in the fall of 2004.

According to to Nikkan Sports (Jan. 24), Yoshidomi, who is married, also told police that Shiga had pressed him to marry her. The suspect has two children with his wife.
