FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of an elderly man at his residence in Nakama City, reports NHK (Jan. 4).

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, the bloodstained corpse of Sachio Ayado, 86, was found collapsed atop a bed inside his home, located in the Chuo area, by a female acquaintance. The body had what appears to be a stab wound.

Police believe that Ayado, who lived alone, died sometime between December 31 and January due to shock brought about by a loss of blood.

At the time of the discovery of the body, the front door of the home was locked and its interior had been undisturbed.

As a part of the investigation, officers from the Orio Police Station are in the process of questioning Ayado’s associates and neighbors about the victim.
