HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police on Tuesday arrested a 68-year-old woman on charges of theft — and it was far from her first violation, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Nov. ).

At approximately 10:50 a.m., Shigeko Sakamoto is alleged to have come up from behind a 79-year-old woman inside a ship in Nishinomiya City and taken a wallet from inside the bag she was carrying.

Sakamoto, a resident of the town of Ikedacho, admits to the allegations.

According to officers from the Nishinomiya Police Station, the suspect began committing similar crimes when she was a teenager. Over the course of her 50-year career, she has been arrested for theft on approximately 20 occasions.

Police have received an increase in reports of theft in Nihinoiya over the past month and have upped patrols.
