OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police are seeking the whereabouts of a man suspected of pushing a 63-year-old woman from a train platform onto the tracks in Naniwa Ward, reports Fuji News Network (Dec. 12).
At around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, a man shoved the woman and a girl, 18, in the back on the platform at JR Shin-Imamiya Station. The woman tumbled onto the tracks and in the path of a train whose driver applied its emergency brakes. The train subsequently came to a halt about two meters from the woman.
Neither the woman or the girl were hurt in the incident.
“With the (train) approaching, I thought I was going to die,” the woman was quoted by the network. “I was upset, and tears started coming out. I do not want to ride the train for the time being. In no way did I expect to fall (on the tracks).”
Believed to be in his 20s, the man stands approximately 170 centimeters in height. He was wearing a blue shirt at the time of the incident.
Police are seeking his whereabouts on suspicion of attempted murder.
Update: Police have apprehended a man, aged in his 20s, in Aichi Prefecture, according to TBS News (Dec. 13). A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
