AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police earlier this month arrested the seventh and final member of a so-called “Hentai” group of teachers who communicated online about the secret filming of female students and sharing of images and videos, reports TBS News (Nov. 13).
On November 6, police accused Mizuki Kai, 27, an elementary school teacher in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, of possessing a tosatsu (voyeur) video of a girl getting changed.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of violating the Child Prostitution and Child Pornography Prohibition Act, “They were like treasures, so I didn’t want to throw them away, so I kept them.”
Throughout this year, police arrested six other elementary and middle school teachers. Kai is the final member of the group to be apprehended.
Kai began disposing of the voyeur videos after seeing reports of other teachers’ arrests. However, it was the video that he couldn’t throw away that became the deciding factor in his arrest.
“Every time I saw news about arrests, I worried that I might get caught someday, so I disposed of the USB containing the voyeur videos I’d obtained online,” the suspect said.
Hentai, lolicon and teacher
According to police, more than 40 children in total were victimized. It all started with a social media post started by Yuji Moriyama, a 42-year-old former elementary school teacher in Nagoya. “Elementary school students are beautiful just by being there,” he wrote.
Moriyama eventually invited only “trustworthy” teachers who shared similar sexual preferences to join an online group.
Around August 2024, he moved to a more confidential social media platform and formed the group called “HLT,” which is an acronym for hentai (pervert), lolicon and teacher.
The group consisted of seven elementary and middle school teachers from four prefectures (Aichi, Kanagawa, Hokkaido and Okayama) and Tokyo. They are not believed to have met each other.
“Given my profession, there are many things I would never talk about in public, but I hope to be able to discuss them here,” Moriyama wrote.
Interactions within the group include mutual praise of voyeur images. “That’s so cool,” one teacher wrote. “Nice,” commented another. And another cautioned, “Let’s try not to get caught.”
The arrests came as a result of another investigation. In January, Shota Suito, a 34-year-old elementary school teacher in Nagoya, allegedly splashed bodily fluids on a 15-year-old girl’s backpack at a train platform in Atsuta Ward. He was later indicted on charges of property damage.
