KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested an employee of Keihan Electric Railway company in the dumping of his girlfriend’s body, which was found earlier this year in Sakyo Ward, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (Sep. 16).

Sometime between the end of July and early August of last year, Masaki Nishiwaki, 55, buried the body of Tomoe Hosokawa, who was 43 years old at the time, in the mountains of Shimogamo Kitachanokicho.

On May 16, a married couple walking in the area in search of edible plants found the skull of Hosokawa. After digging more than 10 centimeters deep in the immediate area, other bones of the victim were uncovered.

Nishiwaki admits to the allegations. According to the Asahi Shimbun (Sep. 16), he has also hinted at participating in her murder.

In July of last year, Hosokawa went missing. At the end of the following month, relatives consulted with the Kyoto police.

The results of a DNA analysis conducted on the bones revealed a match with material of Hosokawa provided by her relatives.

Nishiwaki and Hosokawa had been in an intimate relationship since the spring of last year.

Police are now investigating what problems may have existed between the suspect and victim.
