SAITAMA (TR) – Earlier this month, a 5-year-old boy was found dead and his father and brother unconscious inside a vehicle parked in a parking lot in Kumagaya City.
With burning charcoal briquettes also discovered in the car, suspect that the case is the result of a murder-suicide, reports
NHK (Feb. 16).
At just before 1:00 p.m. on February 15, a store employee alerted emergency services after finding the man, aged in his 30s, and the two boys lying inside a car parked in the parking lot of the store.
When the police and fire department personnel arrived to investigate, they confirmed one of the two boys, aged 5, was dead at the scene.
The father and the other son were taken to the hospital, but both were conscious and their lives were not in danger, police said.
Police believe the three inhaled the fumes from the burning charcoal briquettes in a murder-suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
