Shimane man, 20, accused of beating, raping ex-girlfriend has ‘no memory’ of crimes

SHIMANE (TR) — Police in Matsue City have arrested a 20-year-old company employee for allegedly beating, strangling and raping his teenage former girlfriend inside a vehicle, reports TBS News (May 7).

According to the Matsue Police Station, the assault took place between 3:30 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. on April 3. The unnamed suspect allegedly called the teenage victim out to a local park, where he punched her in the face multiple times and choked her.

He then moved the teenager into his car parked nearby, where he continued to strike her in the face. Police say the suspect then raped the victim while she was rendered incapacitated and unable to resist.

The crime came to light on April 23 when the victim visited the Matsue Police Station with her father to report that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. Following a police investigation into her claims, the suspect was arrested on May 7 on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse.

Upon his arrest, the suspect denied the allegations, telling investigators, “I have no memory of it.”

The man had already been in police custody, having been previously arrested on April 27 on separate assault charges involving the same victim.

Police are continuing to investigate the detailed circumstances of the attack, the suspect’s motives, and whether he has committed any other related offenses.
