TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 47-year-old music creator on suspicion of sexually assaulting an actress in her 20s inside a karaoke box in Shinjuku Ward.
Yutaka Suzuki, who goes by the stage name “Yu,” is accused of assaulting the young woman during an incident in March.
Upon his arrest, Suzuki admitted to the allegations. “I had a moment of weakness,” he told investigators.
According to police, Suzuki composes music for stage plays and musicals and became acquainted with the victim through work. He reportedly lured the actress to a karaoke booth under the guise of providing professional vocal training.
During the session, Suzuki told the victim, “There is a pressure point that will help your voice come out better.” He then began massaging her before the encounter escalated into a sexual assault.
The crime came to light after the woman consulted with a local police station to report the incident.
