SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the discovery of a man’s corpse in an irrigation canal in Hanyu City on Saturday, reports the Saitama Shimbun (June 29).
At around 6:05 p.m., a woman in her 30s who was out walking near the Kasai Irrigation Canal reported the discovery of the man’s body to the Hanyu Police Station.
According to police, the body is that of a man believed to be in his 60s or 70s. With a height of around 160 centimeters, he had long, graying hair and a slim build.
He was wearing a navy blue polo shirt and grey sweatpants.
The water where the body was pulled out was about 2 meters deep and 5 meters wide.
Police are currently working to identify the body.
