HYOGO (TR) – Law enforcement has arrested a 49-year-old man over the alleged fatal stabbing of a male resident of an apartment in Himeji City last week, reports Fuji News Network (Jan. 25).
On January 20, Keiji Koide allegedly stabbed office worker Daisuke Kida, 33, in the lower back with a knife as he entered his vehicle in the underground parking lot of the apartment building in Iwabatacho.
Kida was later confirmed dead, police said previously.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of murder, Koide admitted to the allegations. “I stabbed him to death with a knife,” he said.

According to investigators, Koide initially did not admit to the charges. He initially said, “I don’t intend to talk right now.” However, he later admitted to the allegations.
An examination of security camera footage taken near the crime scene revealed a man appearing similar to Koide driving around the area, getting out of his car and walking around. Police believe the suspect may have been scouting the area beforehand.
The footage also showed the man driving toward Kobe City. It was later learned that Koide had rented the car. An arrested warrant was obtained on January 22. Ishikawa Prefectural Police arrested him in Nanao City, Ishikawa the next day.
Police are currently investigating the relationship between the Koide and Kida in detail.
