TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police were alerted last week after a male foreigner refused to come down from the roof of a convenience store in Shibuya Ward, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 14).
The incident was captured in social media footage taken on the night of August 7.
Initially, one male foreigner ascends to the sign of a Family Mart outlet in Udagawacho. A second male foreigner tries to the do the same.
When the second foreigner cannot reach the summit, he pulls another sign over and climbs atop, using it as a foothold.
From the convenience store sign, the first man uses the second man as a stepping stone to climb onto the roof that juts out from the building.
“I did it!” the first man exclaims while sitting on the perch.
A convenience store employee then gestures for him to come down. After he refuses, the staff member alerts the police.
“He’s gone to the police!” the foreigner says. “It’s the police! The police are coming! What are you doing? Let’s run!”
After an officer arrives, the foreign men are given a verbal warnings and sent home.
