OITA (TR) – The Oita Prefectural Board of Education has revoked the teaching license of a female former high school teacher in her 20s following allegations of sexual violence against a minor, reports Kyodo News (June 18).
The woman, who previously worked as a full-time lecturer at a private high school in Oita Prefecture, received the administrative punishment in May of last year. Local authorities and the prefectural board of education confirmed the revocation on June 18.
Both the prefectural government and the school have tightly guarded the details of the case. Officials have refused to disclose the exact nature of the incident, declining even to confirm whether the victim was a student enrolled at the high school where the woman taught.
According to the school, the woman voluntarily resigned in October 2023, citing “personal reasons.”
However, a subsequent tip-off regarding an incident of sexual violence prompted the school to bring the former educator in for questioning. Following the hearing, the school reported the matter to the prefecture in March of last year, ultimately leading to the loss of her teaching credentials.
