Bus driver accused of drugging, sexually assaulting woman taken from Kabukicho

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 52-year-old bus driver on suspicion of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman after picking her up in Shinjuku Ward earlier this year, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 1).

Ryuji Hosaka, a resident of Matsudo City in Chiba Prefecture, is accused of giving the woman, aged in her 20s, a drug inside his vehicle after picking her up in the Kabukicho red-light district in March, causing her to lose consciousness.

According to investigators, he then drove the incapacitated woman across prefectural lines to Saitama City, where he sexually assaulted her.

Upon his arrest, Hosaka completely denied the allegations. “I did not abduct her. I just drove the victim to her home,” the suspect told investigators. “I did not force her into any indecent acts.”

According to police, Hosaka and the victim were previously acquainted. Investigators are currently looking into his exact motives and probing whether he may be involved in other similar offenses.
