OKINAWA (TR) – Okinawa Prefectural have launched a robbery-murder investigation after a 39-year-old woman was found dead inside a hotel room early Saturday.
According to NHK (Oct. 3), authorities now searching for a “foreign-looking” man seen fleeing the scene.
At around 4:30 a.m., local resident Anna Yagi was found collapsed inside a room at a hotel in Naha City’s Wakasa area. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on the condition of her corpse, police determined she had been murdered.
Security camera footage from the vicinity captured Yagi entering the room with a person described as a foreign-looking man. A short time later, the man was recorded leaving the premises alone while carrying the victim’s belongings.
Police later recovered Yagi’s stolen possessions abandoned near the scene of the crime.
An investigative headquarters has been established as authorities continue to track the suspect’s whereabouts.
The hotel is located in a bustling entertainment district, approximately one kilometer northwest of the Okinawa Urban Monorail’s Kencho-mae Station.
