Erina Iwata resigns as announcer with NTV

TOKYO (TR) – Popular Nippon TV announcer Erina Iwata will be leaving her post in March next year, a source has revealed to Shukan Bunshun.

Iwata, 30, is currently the host of the information program “Shuichi.” She has been ranked in the top 10 of the “Favorite Female Announcer Ranking” for six consecutive years since 2020.

In 2021, Iwata was selected as an assistant host for the information program “Sukkiri.” She later became the likely successor to Nippon TV’s flagship announcer Asami Miura.

“In her first year with the company, she hosted the show ‘World Wide View! TV Special Investigation Unit,'” a sports newspaper reporter says. “She confidently engaged in conversations with big names like George Tokoro and Beat Takeshi, earning her the nickname ‘Beast Tamer’ despite being a newbie.

Her signature impersonations also frequently became a hot topic online.

“She solidified her popularity on ‘Sukkiri’ and was quickly becoming the leading candidate to succeed Miura,” the aforementioned reporter says.

Iwata reportedly plans to work as a freelance announcer after leaving the company, according to Bunshun.

When asked about the matter, Nippon TV replied, “We do not comment on personnel matters.”
