Decayed man’s corpse found in driver’s seat of car parked in Toyama

TOYAMA (TR) – Toyama Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the discovery of a man’s corpse inside a vehicle parked in Takaoka City on Thursday. The discovery of the body was the second in Takaoka in the past week.

At around 5:30 a.m., a person connected to a shopping mall alerted police after finding the man slumped behind the wheel of the vehicle in the facility’s parking lot, reports Tulip Television (Aug. 15).

According to the police, the body showed no signs of external wounds. The backrest of the driver’s seat was slightly reclined upon the discovery. Based on the state of decomposition, he is believed to have been dead for several days.

Of medium build, he stood about 165 centimeters tall. He was clothed in a long-sleeve gray t-shirt and black tracksuit pants. He was wearing gray sneakers.

Police are now seeking to identify the body.

Second case

Just five days before, another body was found in a river in the same city.

At around 1:25 p.m. on August 10, a man riding a personal watercraft in the Shogawa River alerted police about “a man was floating in the river,” according to Tulip Television (Aug. 10).

Emergency personnel arriving to a bank of the river in the Shimomakino area retrieved the man, believed to be in his 50s to 70s, from the water. However, he was confirmed dead at the scene.

As with the aforementioned case, there were no visible wounds on the body.

Of stout build, the man stood about 175 centimeters tall. He was wearing a red short-sleeve shirt, black pants and black sneakers.

Police will use the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death. They are also seeking to identify the man.

The scene of the discovery is about 800 meters downstream from Makino Ohashi Bridge in Takaoka.

Police have not indicated that the cases are connected.
