TOKYO (TR) – Four establishments, including the Wall Street 2 nightclub, in Tokyo’s Roppongi entertainment district were raided by police last month for licensing violations, reports Yukan Fuji (Dec. 9).
The manager of Wall Street 2, Dutch national Mohammed Abubaca, 36, was arrested by police at around 3 a.m. on November 23 for allowing late-night dancing. The Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses — a nationwide code with sections regarding nightlife activities — prohibits dancing after 1 a.m. without special authorization
Police made eight arrests in total.
Abubaca has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “I know that I cannot operate after 1 a.m.,” said the manager. “But I wanted to run a place where people could dance until the early morning.”
The police had been monitoring the four establishments throughout much of this year.
One year ago, similar circumstances surrounded the raid of a number of bars in the Gas Panic chain, which also operates in Roppongi. (K.N.)
