TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Thursday announced the raid of a pachinko parlor operating illegally in Shibuya Ward, reports TV Asahi (May 28).

On May 25, officers raided parlor Seven League, located in the Dogenzaka area, and arrested Kazuki Kinoshita, the 24-year-old manager, for allowing customers to wager on 32 pachisuro (pachinko slot) machines considered illegal.

Kinoshita has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “I did it to make a living,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Police also arrested four male customers inside the premises on suspicion of partaking in illegal gambling.

According to Fuji News Network (May 28), Seven League served approximately 300 registered customers.

To monitor customers entering and leaving the 24-hour parlor, two surveillance cameras were installed at entrance doors.

Investigators believe revenue from the operation was used to fund an organized crime group.
