TOCHIGI (TR) – Tochigi Prefectural Police are planning to question a 66-year-old man now hospitalized after a stabbing incident left him wounded and his wife and son dead inside the residence they share in Oyama City, reports Nippon News Network (May 14).
On Saturday morning, the bodies of Yoneko Shizukai, 65, and her son, 32-year-old Kazuyuki, were found collapsed and bleeding in the first-floor living room of the residence, located in the Nakakuki area. Both bodies had sustained stab wounds to the head. They were both confirmed dead at the scene.
Takeshi Shizukai was found lying near the entrance. Both of his wrists had been slashed. He is now receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
According to police, the were no signs of a forced entry and the residence had not been ransacked. A survival knife was found inside.
Police suspect that Takeshi stabbed his wife and son to death before attempting to take his own life. Police plan to question him about the incident after he recovers from his injuries, which are not considered life threatening.
Police were alerted to the incident after a younger sister of Takeshi visited the residence and saw the collapsed bodies.
