SAITAMA (TR) – One girl died and another was seriously injured after they apparently plunged from the roof of a building in Saitama City on Saturday, police said, reports Fuji News Network (June 29).
At around 2:40 p.m., a male passerby to the five-story building in Omiya Ward alerted emergency services. “Two women are collapsed,” the caller said.
Both persons — later identified as a 14-year-old middle school girl and 15-year-old high school girl — were transported to a hospital.
The middle school girl, who is from Chiba Prefecture, was confirmed dead at the hospital. The high school girl, from Fujimi City, Saitama, is in serious condition with a broken pelvis.
According to the Omiya Police Station, bags and shoes believed to belong to the two were found on the roof of the nearby five-story building. Police are investigating the possibility that they may have jumped from the roof.
